We look at three comments by the Meshekh Chokhmah on the story of the servant finding a wife for Yitzchaq.
Rav Meir Simcha haKohein appears to find a central theme in the story is that events are not only caused by what came before, but also driven toward a purpose. (And that in events as central to the flow of history as finding Rivqah, it’s the latter that dominates.)
Perhaps this is even why the story is told at such length, and why Eliezer’s version of the story is included, even though it repeats the same narrative.
